Time for a spot of gardening.

As our Summer is heading towards the Autumn, although with the sunshine we had today, you could be forgiven for thinking Summer had must begun, but with us now being in September, we have to accept the fact that Autumn is definitely getting closer, so it is time to do some gardening.

Our wildflower patch was looking very sad and so I have decided that I would make a change. In fact I am changing the whole thing this Autumn and Winter.

The Wildflower bed is going to have shrubs, roses and grasses in it, so it will look after itself once we are off cruising. I dug out all the wildflowers and one lot of the runner beans, which were also over with. I then spent hours digging out the roots of the bindweed, which is prevalent in all the gardens on the site. But I will conquer it by keeping on with the digging. With the digging done, I moved some of the plants around in the bed and redid the hedging at the back of the bed.

Tomorrow I will add more plants from else where in the garden, because as I said at the beginning I am making changes to the layout of the garden this Autumn and Winter. I want to put it into zones. So there will be the shrubs zone, then the fruit zone, which will have fruit bushes, rhubarb and strawberries in it. We will then have a flower garden either side of the pond and rockery, I want it to look like a cottage garden. The rest of the garden will be turned over to a herb patch and a vegetable patch. So watch this space for the updates.
