Off to the vets.

Hi Folks.

Welcome to November, it will soon be Christmas arghhhhh.

This morning we woke to another very drab and overcast day. Low cloud was definitely the order of the morning, but it was still not that cold, which was reassuring. The morning cuppa was had sat in bed watching the news and the weather, before getting up to start the usual chores of walking Paddy and then feeding him and Marmite. Today was their vaccination day.
With their appointment being 10.10 am Marmite was wrestled into her basket at 9.45 am, but to get her into the basket we had to catch her first. Marmite now associates her basket with the vets, because it only ever gets used for that purpose. She eventually went in kicking and screaming, or in her case meowing at the top of her voice.
Paddy takes going to the vet much more in his stride, because he loves going, so we put his lead on and he drags us along the towpath to the vet and then just lays down and waits his turn.
Marmite is now 9 years old, but is very well according to the vet. She weighed in at 3.6 kg and was very good at having her vaccination. However she did actually disgrace herself, with leaving the vet and us a present in her basket. She has never soiled it before, but today was a first. Marmite happily went back into her basket and then it was Paddy's turn.

Paddy is now 12 years old and not in the best of health. His weight has been a huge issue this year, having gone down to 12 kg at the end of last year, we have spent the year trying to get weight on him. Today he weighed in at 14.5 kg, which is an improvement, but considering he does very little we would of expected him to have done better. He also now has Arthritis in his hips and back legs, which means he now has no muscle tone, so he is getting wobbly on his back end, which we need to keep an eye on. Other than that he had his vaccination and wagged his tail. Our decision has always been, that we will know when it is time to let the old boy go, which is not quite there yet.
Back home, Paddy has gone to his bed and Marmite is lying in front of the fire with a miserable look on her face. She really is not a happy cat :-(
