New Mops.

Hi Friends and Followers.

I have finished them. Two brand new mop poles and heads. I finished painting the poles yesterday (Monday) and today was head day.

The long mop head is made up from an old fleece which did belong to Keith, but was no longer any good. He has since bought another fleece, so he is not without a warm fleece. I like a bit of recycling. The small mop head was given to me by my neighbour Maria and has now also been recycled. The old mops will not be wasted, I will find another use for them.

  1. I'm big into recycling because I don't like to see anything go to waste. This is the first time I've heard of anyone making a new mop from old mop parts. I'm wondering if it was hard to make a new mop from recycled parts. Was the process easy or was it time-consuming?

  2. Hi Clifford.

    Thank you for your message.

It was really easy to make a new mop. I long piece of wooden pole, an old fleece cut up in to strips, 1" wide by how ever long you want it, a horseshoe nail and a small piece of leather. The fleecing was cut up as I said then laid out like a cross going round and round making layers. I pushed the nail through the layers, drilled a pilot hole in the pole ready. The piece of leather had a hole put in it for the nail to go in and was put between the pole and the fleece with the nail holding it all together, job done. It did not take that long to do.
