After a brilliant weekend of cleaning up the canal, with a wonderful group of people, we left Malthouse Stables, Tipton this morning and headed back into Birmingham.
All that remains of Valencia Wharf.
Under the motorway and into Scaffold city.
I had to do a bit of flushing to get Keith out of the second lock, because the pound was very low.
Half the issue is other boaters do not put the locks on, when they have left a lock, so this allows the little darling to drain the pounds by opening the paddles. With the locks on Smethwick, if you push the bar in and it does not lock, then you must do it manually, by doing it with the key. It is pure laziness not to lock the paddles behind you. Of course some maybe broken and so they need to be reported to C&RT, so they can be fixed. Anyway I locked them all behind us.
Back into Birmingham, we turned into Ladywood Junction and went through Oozells Street Loop and moored up.
We want to do a few things in Birmingham, so will be here a couple of days.
Pop back soon xxx
