So Iconic.

I was reading my Facebook page and Maffi on NB Milly M, posted a report about the Spitfire still being built on the Isle Of Wight. It is fantastic to think that such an iconic aeroplane is still being put together.

Currently there are 50 airworthy Spitfires out there WOW.

Reading that item bought to mind the Spitfire of Charles Church which used to fly over the village I lived in. When ever I heard his plane coming overhead, I always ran out into the garden to watch and listen to it fly over. Charles Church owned several Spitfire's and flew them from Popham Airfield, which is the home of the Spitfire Flying Club, it has the name of Charles Church in his memory. The airfield is still owned by his family. Sadly Charles Church died in one of his aircraft in 1990. The sound of the engine still rings in my ears.
