A really frosty start to Friday morning, but we were treated to an amazing sunrise before 6am.
Watching the sun coming up was something so special. The mist was beginning to waft along the cut and the birds were breaking into song.
I hung my washed trousers out to drip dry and they ended up frozen solid.
We set off at 8.15am, destination Rugeley for some food shopping in Aldi and I needed to go to Tesco. We arrived in Rugeley, moored up. With trolleys to hand we set off for Aldi to get the bulk of our food shop. On the return to the boat, Keith was on his own with two trolleys, because I walked over to Tesco to get a couple of things you cannot get in Aldi. I then rang Keith, who picked me up in a bridge 'ole, to save me walking all the way back to the boat.
9.45am we were back underway and on our way to Fradley.
The sun was out, but there was still a nip in the air. I made us both a Bacon and Egg Roll for brunch, which went down a treat with a coffee.
Woodend Lock.
Fradley Top Lock.
Locks all done for the day, we moored up below Junction Lock. After chatting to the lock keeper and John from CRT, we headed to The Swan Inn (Mucky Duck) for a well earned pint and to book a table for the evening meal and another pint.
Having just come back from our meal at the Inn, I can completely recommend it and the beer.
